Welcome to the Get Your Goal podcast, the place where ambitious, deep-thinking women chart their own course, exploring the mindset, emotions, and daily practices that help you get your goal your way by being unapologetically you. I'm your host, Pahla B, master certified life and goal coach and creator of the Daily 3 journaling framework. On this podcast, you'll learn to navigate your unique path to success by using the most powerful tool in your kit, your own internal compass. Ready for the adventure? Let's go. Hello, friend. Today we are talking about how to make time for your goals when life is busy, and I suspect that there is an expectation that you might have that this podcast is going to be filled with tips and tricks of how to squeeze in five minutes here and there for your goals on a day when your to-do list is full and you have a [00:01:00] lot to do, but it's better if you just get up a little bit earlier or stay up a little bit later or work during your lunch hour on your novel or all of the kinds of things that, let's call it, regular coaches would have you believe is the way to make time for your goals when your life is busy. And I want to offer you basically the complete opposite of that. What I want to tell you is that sometimes you won't make time for your goals when your life is busy, and I want you to hear and feel how different that is and what that might open up for you. Because here's the thing, here's the story that I think lots of us tell ourselves, that it's easier to put our goals front and center when our life is, you know, quote-unquote, normal, which by the way, almost never happens. But we tell [00:02:00] ourselves this story that it's easy to sit down and work on your novel, you know, when work isn't crazy, or it's easy to track what you're eating when you're at home rather than when you are out or on vacation. Or it's easy to get out and go for a run when you're not taking care of your kids and your parents and your pets and your house and your job and your everything else, all the things that you're juggling. Or it's easy to write on Substack for your business when the rest of your to-do list isn't overflowing. And the thing is, the thing about this, is that we don't actually mind being busy, you and I. We kind of like that feeling of productivity. We kind of like having a full life. There is nothing wrong in our minds with juggling a lot of things. The problem is that we feel guilty or resentful or frustrated when we [00:03:00] have all these things that, you know, we're doing that, okay, sometimes we don't love that our work is busy. Sometimes we don't love that we are taking care of other people all day long. Sometimes we don't love the things that we are filling our lives with, but also sometimes we don't mind that. What's the problem is the guilt, the resentment, the frustration that we feel when we are trying to juggle that and our goals. And what I'm offering you today is not how to carve out more time, how to fit in more, but actually how to release the guilt, the frustration, and the resentment. And here's how. By understanding yourself deeply and beautifully, and really making decisions [00:04:00] and prioritizing what you want to do today. This is the essence of The Daily 3 journaling framework that I teach, that I have a masterclass. It's about 23 minutes long. There's a link in the show notes or the description, wherever you are, that you can really understand the ins and outs of all of The Daily 3. It is a journaling system, let's call it, that really helps you rewire your brain for success, and this is one of the ways that you rewire your brain to orient towards success and getting your goal, and away from the guilt, and the frustration, and the resentment that you and I tend to sit in most days This idea that you have to get everything done, that you have to make time for your goals, [00:05:00] that you have to prioritize yourself instead of or over or in addition to the other things in your life, is based on a false assumption. The truth of it is that you can, at any point in time, prioritize what you want to. Sometimes that will be other people, other things, and work, and the household, and the pets, and sometimes it will be your goals. And what I really want you to hear in this is the freedom that that allows you. The getting out from underneath the guilt that that will actually give you. When you are making solid decisions for yourself based on today's priorities, today's calendar, today's [00:06:00] energy, today's desires, versus always constantly chasing after obligation, what you think you have to do, what you think you should do, what you think you must do, other people's opinions about what you have to do. When you take five solid, beautiful minutes for yourself with The Daily 3, I'm gonna say every morning because that is when I do my journaling, but it does not necessarily have to be every morning, and it certainly doesn't have to be even five minutes all at once. But when you beautifully look at what you want, your overarching desire, and then your capacity today in this moment When you spend that time on yourself [00:07:00] and making time for that decision, sometimes your decisions will not be about your goals, and making that decision solidly for yourself lays to rest the guilt, the resentment, and the frustration that you and I seem to be constantly churning in. That guilt, that frustration, that, that resentment is actually a byproduct of indecision. Using The Daily 3 to help you make decisions that make sense for you right now with both your brain and your body, not just your brain saying, "I have to do this, I should do this, I must do this," but listening to the yes inside your body, "This is what I have energy for right now. This feels like what I wanna be doing [00:08:00] today. This is where I'm going right now, today, this week." Paying attention to both your brain and your body, connecting your brain and your body to listen to your actual yes instead of your brain insisting that this is what needs to get done, this is what has to get done, this is what you should be working on, means that your actual day might look... Well, it might look exactly the same as it looks right now, honestly. It might look like you are busy with work, with your house, with things, and it might look like you are working towards your goal today. The truth of it is that you are always working towards your goal when you are making decisions with your brain and your body instead of just [00:09:00] your brain and the default of what you should do, what you have to do. Using the Daily 3 framework for your goals and your life can take away that juggling feeling of constant pressure, constant guilt, and help you step into making decisions in a way that feels like you. That really is my central core promise here with The Daily 3, is that you get to be you, and that you can lay down the guilt, the resentment, and the frustration that you currently feel while you are trying to juggle, while you are trying to make time for your goals. And instead, [00:10:00] you can have time for your goals when it's right for you This was intended to be a nugget of an episode for you today, a central concept that you can take in and work with quickly, apropos of our topic. I know you're busy, and I know that making decisions from a place of listening to yourself, your brain, your body working together is the way to get your goals, my friend. Go watch the masterclass so that you can incorporate The Daily 3 into your life and make time in the way that makes sense for you and your busy life and your goals.
